5 stars for people like this
by: judy

I would like to thank the people that actually care or go out of their busy/hectic days to inform others of items they have bought in their lives that I just about did, to save us the headache and irritation of doing the same thing. Did you guys notify Hampton Fan Company? I hope so. BEFORE I buy anything....just went through buying a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, hot water tank.....there is usually an 800 number on the item to which I CALL FIRST if there is not answer or I get a person that does not speak clear English, or I get a person but get a run around...and check to be sure there is someone to service the item (ask how long it takes to get parts) I will NOT buy that item. Went through H-E-L-L with a hot water tank........do your homework first....sorry I know it is a pain in the a.. Call HAMPTON

Hampton Bay Four Winds Ceiling Fan
by: Richard

Hey,

I read with interest and discust on the defectiveness of this model fan. I have two, one works fine but the other is doing the same thing as you reported. I tried changing the fan speed switch, etc, nothing worked.

I will try contacting the manufacturer ... doubt if they will do anything though.

Fixing the four winds 420-396-421-533
by: Bill

Replace the 5 wire capacitor (4.5uf 5uf 6uf )located under the light assembly. you have to cut the capacitor out. The retailer warrants the fan motor for life, I suggest bringing it back with the receipt.
Good Luck
