Antique Ceiling Fans
Decor with Élan

Antique ceiling fans are some of the most stylish ceiling mount fan options available on the market. These just might be the final touch that you’ve been looking for to complete the look and feel of your antique themed room.

These fans bring a touch of the old days into any space, making them both a cooling appliance and a decorative fixture.

Antique style fans come in an almost unlimited array of designs, most of which show off luxury and elegance, two things that also describe the grand old days.

Due to their classic and timeless beauty, these fans are considered as specialty products. So if you want a antique fan for your home, make sure you choose carefully because a fan like this definitely needs extra consideration.

What Are Antique Fans?

Antique style ceiling fans can be broken down into many different design philosophies spanning several years from the late 1800s to the mid 1900s.

Some of these fans feature elaborate Victorian details, artistic Art Noveau highlights, unmistakable rustic themes, and striking Art Deco looks. You can choose from a wide variety of these antique themed fans so the design you choose will perfectly match the period you are trying to capture. Here are some highly recommended examples.

1. Hunter 22455 Brookline Traditional Antique Fan

One of the loveliest and most elegant antique ceiling fans on the market is the Hunter Brookline, a 52-inch fan with a deep and rich luxurious feel that seems to have come straight from the 19th century. The indoor antique fan features an antique brass finish and five switchblades with reversible walnut and medium oak sides. The blades have a 13 degree blade pitch for effective air movement perfect for large rooms.

In terms of design, this richly textured antique fan looks very graceful indeed. Part of its charm is the elegant frosted glass bowl uplight. When the light is on, this fan can create a mood all by itself.

The ceiling fan can be installed without the light kit, but you probably wouldn’t see the need to remove it once you see how nicely it lights up your room. However, in terms of air power, it’s pretty standard, with an airflow capacity of only 4905. Thankfully, its efficiency rating of 78 CFM/watt is enough to give you up to 47% of savings on your cooling costs.

2. Casablanca Capistrano 46U4M Fan

For a simpler, toned down antique ceiling fan, check out the Casablanca Capistrano, a simple no-nonsense fan with a distinctive antique brass finish and antique-looking wood veneer blades with medium oak and walnut sides. This large 53-inch fan is powered by a Direct Drive 188 mm x 20 mm motor and comes with a 16 degree blade pitch, two major factors that contribute to its impressively high air power.

But what’s more impressive about this fan is its Energy Star certification, which means it has an above average efficiency rating. To give you more reasons to buy this fan, it also comes with a Versa Touch 2 handheld remote control, which features variable forward and reverse speeds, a full range light dimmer, and memory. Take note that this fan doesn’t come with a light kit, though. If you want one, you can buy separately.

3. Hunter 23710 1896 Art Noveau Antique Fan

One of the most elaborately designed antique ceiling fans is the Hunter 1896 Art Noveau, celebrating the Art Noveau movement of the late 1800s. This very distinct fan comes with a burnished brass base with plenty of intricate Victorian details. The base is attached to four blades; you can choose which side to use, the cherry one or the dark walnut one. Under the blades hang a four-piece light kit consisting of clear glass shades with dainty little details along the edges. The light kit goes really well with the intricacy of the entire fan.

This eye-catching antique ceiling fan reflects the old Victorian era like no other. And Hunter gives it a worthy modern spin by using its advanced WhisperWind motor and flexible 3-position mounting system, which means you can hang it in a standard installation, angled, or flush mount installation.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that it aces the design department, this Hunter fan doesn’t do particularly well in terms of efficiency rating. Despite its high CFM capacity of 6486, its efficiency rating is only 75; this is close enough to average though Hunter could easily have done better.

Antique Ceiling Fans – How to Find Them

Antique themed fans are not difficult to find, thanks to their distinctive looks. All you have to do is visit an online store or go to your local store. The telltale characteristics of antique style fans will give them away in no time. So whether you’re remodeling your home or decorating a new home, you can complete the antique theme with one of these stylish fans.
