Casablanca Bel Air fan

Fallen ceiling fan

Fallen ceiling fan

I purchased a Casablanca Bel Air model ceiling fan about 4 years ago, and had it installed in my bedroom by a licensed electrician. A couple of weeks ago, THE FAN FELL FROM THE CEILING, with no prior warning, while being operated. Casablanca sent a technician to inspect the fan and the technician concluded that the fan was improperly installed.

Through this process we learned that an 1/8 inch set screw is a single point of failure for fan installation, and we were shown how easy it is for a licensed electrician to fail to properly secure this set screw. In light of what I have learned, I would never risk installing a Casablanca ceiling fan again.
