Casablanca Brescia

by Chris
(Chicago)

My wife and I bought this fan around 2000 or so. It developed a rubbing noise around 2003-2004. After working with the repair company for a couple of weeks adjusting the flywheel (up, but it would drop back down), the motor assembly was replaced at no charge.

The fan has recently started exhibiting the same behavior, although this time I can see that the blades are at an angle and don't run true compared to the housing, light kit, etc. I was told that the flywheel is probably broken, and is not covered by the lifetime motor warranty.

So, I can either send this out to Casablanca for $45 flat rate plus probably $30-35 shipping each way ($115) or pay the local repair company $145 to come out and replace the flywheel in home.

I had somehow thought that spending $400-$500 on a fan might get a more reliable piece of equipment than this? I'm not happy.
