Wet-rated fans are the ones that can get wet in the rain and still come out unscathed. Small Small fans are designed specifically for small rooms below 100 square feet in size. They usually have blade spans of around 30 0r 31 inches. Several small fans feature six blades instead of five to compensate for the smaller size, and they also usually have higher blade pitch. Small ceiling fans may be used for smaller rooms such as walk in closets, hallways, laundry rooms, bathrooms, pantries, and small bedrooms. Large Large ceiling fans are fans with blades that range in size between 50 to 80. These are designed for use in rooms 225 square feet and bigger. These oversized fans are ideal for great rooms, grand dining rooms, and spacious living rooms. Due to the high blade spans, these fans move a lot of air even though their blade pitch is just average at 12 to 14 degrees. Kitchen Fans for the kitchen are extremely useful and economical. Belt Driven Belt driven fans have been around since the turn of the century. They operate using a unique type of motor that is attached to a pully, which is, in turn, attached to a belt that stretches between each fan. This is called the belt drive motor, which is also attached to the ceiling. A single motor can be used to drive up to 5 ceiling fans as long as the belt extends far enough to connect to all of them.
