Harbor Beeze remote control

A contractor installed ceiling fans for me. The remote on the wall says "Harbor Breeze" The fan in the one room goes on and when I turn it off....I come back and it is on again. A neighbor said I need to replace the remote as there is a sensor issue. I dont have the papers on it, as the contractor did not give them to me.
What do I do? If I go to the local Lowe's with the remote will they be able to help me?
