Hunter 28672 70" Castleton

DON'T BUY!!! I bought this fan to replace a 56" for increased air circulation and cooling. It claimed to move 7700 cfm.My old fan rated at 5500 cfm.
I had the new "Hunter" fan installed and when it was turned on the highest speed it didn't move as much air as my "old" fan! On the highest speed setting the old fan would blow papers off my desk. The 70" Hunter wouln't even barely make them flutter.
If it were not for the hassell of dismantelling the fan, repackaging it,etc.I would return it. Instead I had it reinstalled in a small bedroom and on "high" speed it seems adaquate as long as the temp. doesn't exceed 80. The fan installer told be that all the large fans now run much slower because to be "greener" they have smaller motors and they can no longer move the large diameter blades nearly as fast as they used to.
This seems to be correct. The motor on my 8 years old Hampton Bay looks almost twice the size of this Hunter.(Don't let the outside motor housing fool you. Look inside the housing outside cover to see the real size of the motor.)
Also.there is no protective netting on the top of the motor housing to keep out dust, etc.as there is on the bottom and on the top and bottom of all my other ceiling fans! When the installer tried to exchange this fan with an older more effective 54"fan I had one of the screws from the canopy fall into the fan housing because there
was no netting to stop it and we had to disassemble the fan motor housing to retrieve the screw.
