Hunter 5 Minute Ceiling Fan (28460)

Installed this fan 3 years ago. We replaced an older brand that was outdated. Installation was straight forward and painless.
This model has a remote control for both the fan and light fixture. The remote can be removed from the wall plate (provided) designed to go over the existing wall switch. A nice feature until the following problem.
The remote is the only way to turn the fan on or off. I recently placed a service call to find out why the remote will not turn off the fan. I have replaced the battery and the light on the remote lights up. I doubt it is the remote. Before this problem, you could hear the switch in the fan housing click on and off when you press a button.
Until now, I have been very happy with this product. Quiet, reliable, rugged. But if I end up paying for a new fan, I will no longer recommend Hunter to anyone.
