Kids Ceiling Fans Match The Décor Of a Child’s Room
Using especially designed kids ceiling fans is the coolest way of providing cooling in a kid’s room. These fans are decorative, colorful, and entertaining.
Instead of sticking with the usual cooling appliances that look out of place in your child’s colorful, exciting room, using these playfully designed fans will surely create the perfect room for your growing kid.
Fans for Little Kids
Fans designed for little kids are always full of bright, bold colors and exciting, playful graphics. Very rarely will you see a kids fan in a simple black or a simple white. As a result, these fans are also the most creatively designed.
These collections include fans designed for little boys, little girls, and even for your nursery. You can choose from various themes, such as florals, sports, cars, animals, and so on.
Here’s one for the boys: the Hunter Fantasy Flyer, one of the most attractive, most entertaining decorative kids ceiling fans; it is actually shaped like an aeroplane. The fan can sit flush mount on your ceilings, so it can be installed even if your kid’s room is low-ceilinged. This is great for small to medium size rooms since it has 48-inch blades.
As a decorative piece, the Fantasy Flyer from Hunter is a bit expensive at $300. It comes with three grey blades that look like aeroplane propellers. This complements the body of the “aeroplane” which is in blue. The fan is a replica of the F4U Corsair aeroplane.
The downside is that it’s not as impressive in performance as it is in looks. It has only an airflow capacity of 3000 watts, and its efficiency rating is quite low at 58 CFM/watt. It also has a 9-inch blade pitch, which means the blades themselves are not ideally positioned for optimum air movement. It also doesn’t come with a light kit, and is fitted only with a three-speed pull chain despite hitting the $300 mark.
As a consolation, remote controls, wall controls, and light kits for this model are widely available.
Now here’s another cool offer for the little boys who loves baseball. Now they can express their love for the game with this baseball style fan. The fan has four blades that are designed to resemble baseball bats, and the base in the middle is designed like a baseball glove. As icing on the cake, the light kit looks like a baseball. This fan is a conversation piece and a fan in one.
At 44 inches, the Hunter Baseball is appropriate for use in medium sized rooms, but take note that it cannot be installed flush mount, so the ceiling should be at least eight feet from the floor. The blades are also reversible too, but if you reverse it to show the aluminum side, you’re going to miss the baseball bat blades.
Like some other kids ceiling fans like the Hunter Fantasy Flyer, this isn’t that powerful nor is it that efficient. Its airflow capacity is only 3000 CFM, and its efficiency rating is only 58 CFM/watt. Thankfully, it has a better blade pitch of 13 degrees than the Fantasy Flyer. Also, this model at least comes with a light kit, with the 19 watt bulb already included in the package.
For the girls, Hunter also offers the Dreamland ceiling fan, which is a fancy-looking fan with five pink blades with a floral design, a dainty white base, and three pink glass shades for the light kit. The Dreamland is more efficient than the Fantasy Flyer and the Baseball models.
It has an airflow capacity of 3908 and uses only 54 watts at the highest speed, giving it an efficiency rating of 72 CFM/watt. It also comes with three lightbulbs for the light kit. Unfortunately, with the light kit, the efficiency is reduced since the fan uses an additional 120 watts with the lights on.
The common Hunter features are all part of the package too. These include the WhisperWind motor and the three speed pull chain. Like with most other Hunter ceiling fans, accessories such as downrods, remote controls, and wall controls are available but have to be bought separately.
There’s another reason why the Hunter Dreamland is ideal for a kid’s room: it doesn’t cost a lot, so it is a preferred choice for a room that your child will soon outgrow. The fan doesn’t hit the $200 mark, despite its attractive, fancy design.
Health Benefits of Kids Ceiling Fans
Fans especially designed for kids are not just fun and decorative. According to some doctors, using ceiling fans in a kid’s room actually has health benefits. They say that circulating the air in a room with the use of these fans as opposed to using air conditioners and regular electric fans can actually decrease the chance of SIDS. So these fans are useful not just in completing the décor in your child’s room but also in making sure that he or she grows up in a perfectly safe environment.
