Noisy Ceiling Fan Making Your Squeaky Fan Quiet Again
A noisy ceiling fan can be one of the most annoying this to deal with and it is worse if it is in your bedroom and you are trying to sleep.
For the most part, fans are noisy because they are off balanced.
This is usually due to the fan blades; this is probably the easiest noisy ceiling fan problem to fix once you find the blade that is off.
Production Fault
Sometimes when the blade is being made, they can be cut and shaped a little imperfect and not match the rest of the blades.
Another thing is the arm attached to the blade, they can sometimes get a little bent during packing and shipping.
Sometimes the fan is fine at first and then it starts to get noisier and noisier, this is because over time the blade can become loose.
Before you get in they’re with your screwdriver and start messing with things, make sure that the fan was installed properly.
Here are a few things that could cause problems, the fan is hanging instead of snug against the ceiling or maybe the motor feels loose. You can take off the blades and turn the fan back on and see if it still makes noise. These are some problems that can cause the fan to make noise.
Tips for making your squeaky fan quiet again
Tighten the screws in the blades. If you have found the screws are loose in the blades, this could be the main cause or only cause of your problem. If you are lucky, your problem will be solved quickly and easily.
Take a screwdriver and make sure that all of the screws in the blades are tight and secure. Once you have done that turn the fan on high and if that does not solve your problem continue on to the next step.
Measure the Blades
The next step in making your fan quiet is to measure the blades. Start with measuring from the tip of the blade to the ceiling. If you find that one or two of them are a bit off, just simply bend them back into place gently.
Next measure from the front of the blade to the back of the blade, do this to each blade. If something seems off, once again just simply bend the blade back to its right position. Then turn the fan on high and see if it helped.
Balancing with a Balancing kit
If you could not find anything wrong with the measurements of each blade then it is time to balance. The best way to do this is buy a balancing kit. This kit comes with adhesive weights and a movable weight clip.
Start by taking the movable clip and putting on one bladed, turn on the fan and see if it helped, if there is not a noticeable difference in the sound of your fan move on to the next blade and so on and so on.
Placement of The Clip
Once you have found the blade that needs to be balanced, continue looking for the right placement of the clip. When you find the right placement for the clip to make your fan stop being so noisy, place an adhesive weight in that same spot and take the movable clip off. Turn your fan back on and if it is still a little noisy add another weight.
These tips should help you have a quieter fan and make your life a bit less noisy.
A quick and way to balance the fan without having the kit is to use pennies and duct tape, just add as many pennies as you need and secure them with duct tape. If you follow the instructions, you won't have a noisy ceiling fan anymore!
This is just a quick fix. Therefore remember that tape does not hold forever.
